THE SCRIPTURES- We believe the Old and New Testaments, as originally written, to be inspired of God and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter1:20-21)
THE GODHEAD - We believe the Godhead eternally exists in three person; Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that these three are one God, having the same nature and attributes. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19, II corinthians 13:14, John 1:1, John 4:24)
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST - We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God; having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. He died on the cross as the substitutionary atonement for sin and was resurrected bodily and ascended in Heaven where He performs His present ministry of intercession for the believers. We believe in His personal imminent return to earth. (John 1:1-4, 14, 18; Luke 1:34-35, Romans 3:24-26; Romans 8:34, Isaiah 9:6 Isaiah 7:14, John 3:14-17)
THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe the Holy Spirit, the third person of the the Godhead, convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells the believer at the moment of the new birth, seals and sets believers apart unto a holy life; that He keeps and empowers believers day by day; that He is the Teacher of the Word of God and guide for our daily life. (John 16:7-11, I Corinthians 12:13; I Corinthians 2:10-12, John 14:16-18, Ephesians 4:30)
MAN - We believe man was created innocent and pure; Adam fell through sin of disobedience; and thereby all mankind are corrupted in body, mind and spirit; therefore, all are in need of redemption. (Genesis 1:17; Genesis 3:1-14; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10-18; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3)
SALVATION - We believe salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works. It is through personal faith in Christ as Savior (Propitiatory Sacrifice) and risen Lord. All who receive Him are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become children of God. All who are saved will be kept forever. Though God will not overlook sin in His children, but will chasten and correct them in love, never-the-less, He pronounces that there is “therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1; Ephesians 2:8-9; Ephesians 1:7; John 1:12; John 3:16-17; Hebrews 12:6)
THE CHURCH - We believe that the true church, called in the Scriptures the Body of Christ, consists of every person who has been born again. It has been commissioned by Christ to take the message of the gospel unto the uttermost parts of the earth. Local churches are groups of redeemed individuals joined together for worship, instruction, fellowship and service (Colossians 1:18-19; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:46-47)
ORDINANCES - We believe Christ instituted two ordinances; namely, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Acts 8:36-39; Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:12; 1 Corinthians 11:26-28; Luke 22:14-20)
SATAN - We believe God created a great host of angels, and Satan through pride, led a host of them to sin, and was cast out of Heaven. Satan became the god of this world, the prince of the power of the air. He is the arch enemy of the believer and endeavors to blind the minds of mankind. (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ephesians 2:2-3; Ephesians 6:12; I Peter 5;8; Corinthians 4:4)
FUTURE - We believe in the personal, pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ. He will come for His saints to gather them unto Himself and He will return with His saints to judge the nations and to establish upon the earth His messianic Kingdom. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just to eternal abode in the glory of His presence and in the bodily resurrection of the unjust unto judgement and everlasting punishment in Hell. (I Thessalonians 4:16-18; Matthew 25:31-34; Revelation 20:4-6; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15)
Family Bible Church was founded in 1988 by a group of Believers who felt the need for a non-denominational church at the Beaches that emphasized in-depth expositional teaching and one-to-one dicipleship. After renting for many years, the door was opened to purchase property and build at their present location.
Rev Gary Elliott, the pastor of Family Bible Church, is a 4th generation pastor. Pastor Gary attended Biola University in La Miranda, CA and he received a Master of Ministry from Moody Bible Institue in Chicago, IL.
"Our desire," says Pastor Gary, "is not to take away from fundamental Bible believing churches, but rather to reach the unchurched. We desire to build strong stable families that are patterned after Biblical principles.
